A Mistake
A fictional study of how mistakes can happen in a complex highly technical environment, or even what constitutes a mistake. The story is centred on Elizabeth a dedicated top-flight surgeon living in Wellington. One of her patients dies in post-op ICU following a surgical error - but was it the surgery that killed her? Elizabeth is a bit nuts and also spends time obsessively renovating her cottage, driving like a maniac, and being a bit of a bitch. She also manages to accidentally kill her best friend's dog in a rather horrible way. The book also includes short descriptions of the 1986 space-shuttle Challenger disaster with brief explanations of the causes of the disaster.
Great, really exciting read, super story. Recommended by Janfrie.
