Bleak story of a family living in poverty in Montreal, Canada during the 1940's. Florentine, the 19 year old daughter falls for Jean, but problems ensue.

Very bleak, rather dull style, struggled to finish it, and in fact I read it around another book, One Hundred and One Ways.
