H is for Hawk
Helen's dad dies and so she gets a goshawk to train. She is an experienced falconer but this is her first goshawk, and they are, of course, notoriously tricky birds to train. We hear a lot about the life of TH White too, author of The Sword in the Stone and The Once and Future King, who was also a keen if inept falconer.
A memoir about grief and determination to succeed, and being a bit different, and lots of useful tips on training a hawk. I mostly read this at the GBS support society biennial conference in Rotorua.

Prophet
Strange objects keep materialising from nowhere, children's toys, a Boeing 747, an American diner. Fully formed but not quite right. Magic? Aliens? New secret weapon? Sunil is seconded into investigating - his special talent - he can instantly tell if something is true or not.
Good sci-fi story, enjoyed it very much.
