Magpie Lane
Dee, Scottish nanny with a penchant for working abstruse mathematical proofs, lands a job for a high-flying but odd family in Oxford. The dad was the head of BBC or something but is now head of an Oxford college, mother is a Danish wallpaper restorer, and child Felicity is a traumatised, selectively mute little girl, almost completely neglected by her parents, who sees ghosts. Then Felicity disappears, the police and the media descend, and Dee becomes a suspect.
Excellent, really good thriller, great characters, clever plot, with ghostly twists, and a good ending.

Windmill Hill
Astrid, a successful actor in her youth, is involved in a scandal and her career is destroyed while her ex-husband escapes society's censure and goes on to become a famous Hollywood star. But a now elderly Astrid is living with her friend Mrs Baker in their decrepit windmill, (which hides a secret of its own), when they discover the ex-husband is about to publish his memoirs. Will he tell the truth about that fateful night so many years ago? Astrid is determined to confront him one more time.
Really good story, exciting, suspenseful, and with great characters.
