![]() | Magpie Lane | Dee, Scottish nanny with a penchant for working abstruse mathematical proofs, lands a job for a high-flying but odd family in Oxford. The dad was the head of BBC or something but is now head of an Oxford college, mother is a Danish wallpaper restorer, and child Felicity is a traumatised, selectively mute little girl, almost completely neglected by her parents, who sees ghosts. Then Felicity disappears, the police and the media descend, and Dee becomes a suspect. | Excellent, really good thriller, great characters, clever plot, with ghostly twists, and a good ending. |
