 | Children of Time | Humanity in the far future is busy terraforming exo-planets, but back on earth war breaks out provoked by anti-technologists. Terraforming is sabotaged and at one planet, the sole-surviving scientist ends up accidentally innoculating a race of spiders with a grow-faster/bigger/smarter serum. Excellent, really good story, a bit of classic sci-fi. Two more in the series.
