![]() | Where the Crawdads Sing | A young girl, Kya, is brought up in poverty in the North Carolina coastal marshes. One by one her family abandon her and she raises herself to adulthood, avoiding all regular society but finding satisfaction in her study of the natural world around her. But then a young man is found dead at the bottom of a wooden tower and most local people assume that the marsh girl must have had something to do with it, and she is accused of murder. I wasn't quite so keen on this one. I liked the setting and description of the natural world and it's parallels within the characters. The romance part was a bit too "The Notebook" for me. Perhaps I am an emotionless void.

I liked this book! My mum and I both read this over lockdown.. and now we are in a stalemate. I think Kya killed him, she thinks Jumpin’ so… Andrew, John.. whodunnit?
